Additional Information
Bring your children.
At Mountain Equestrian Trails we love children. There are several children around to play with, and we offer activities children love, such as horseback riding, swimming, hiking, and exploring, or simply enjoying a game of soccer or baseball. Children under age 6 are free, and ages 6-12 are half price for meals. (With the exception of horseback riding: $61 for half day, $83 for full day). Babysitting is available with advance notice.
What should I bring?
Remember to bring your flashlight and extra batteries. There is no electricity in the rooms, but we can charge batteries in the Cantina. Bring your prescription medications, insect repellent, sunscreen, light cotton clothing, long pants, hiking or riding boots, tennis shoes, bathing suit, camera and lots of film.
What if I cannot complete my tour?
If weather or other circumstance prevents the completion of a portion of the tour we will do our best to offer a substitute tour. We are not responsible for unusual circumstances or weather patterns. We have the right to refuse to offer tours to Tikal if circumstances make it unsafe to travel there. We will either offer a substitute tour or horseback riding.
NOTE: no portion of tour is refundable if not used. All tours allow time for early morning bird watching and nature walks.
Do I need shots to come to Belize?
Please follow your doctor's recommendations. Many doctors recommend malaria prevention. No immunizations are required, although we do recommend that you be vaccinated against tetanus.
What else should I know?
To maximize your holiday enjoyment, we suggest that you be in reasonably good physical condition, regardless of your age. We also recommend that you do some stable riding prior to the tour, spending at least 1 1/2 hours in the saddle at a time. Please sign our liability waiver provided at the resort before riding.
All visitors to Belize must present a valid passport before entering the country. Please note that driver’s licenses and birth certificates are not approved travel documents and cannot be used to enter the country. Passports must be valid up until time of departure.
Departure fees of US $37.50 per person are payable only in US currency at the Philip Goldson International Airport at the time of departure. Please note that these fees are not included in the tour packages, however, they are sometimes included in the cost of your airfare. Please see the Belize Tourist Board website for current information on visas and departure fees. http://www.travelbelize.org/immigration.html

Transportation to Mountain Equestrian Trails
Mountain Equestrian Trails will pick up guests at the International Airport. This is inexpensive for 4 to 9 passengers and it is also the most convenient as you are less likely to wait for another plane or group of passengers to arrive. We can stop at the Belize Zoo either on our way to or from Mountain Equestrian Trails. Entrance fees to the Zoo are not included in the price of the transfer.

Bus to San Ignacio and Georgeville
On arrival at the airport take a taxi to the bus terminal in Belize City. Rates are approximately $5 US per person and schedules vary on weekends and holidays. Catch any one of the hourly buses leaving for San Ignacio and Georgeville. Please phone 669.1124 from the bus station to let us know approximately what time you will be boarding. Get off the bus at Georgeville where we will pick you up (see transfer rates). It takes about 25 minutes to get to the Mountain Equestrian Trails from Georgeville.

Rental Cars
Rates are variable from $80 to $100+ per day. There is an advantage in the flexibility of having your own car. The disadvantage is in not having a knowledgeable guide and driver along with you to explain the highlights of your drive, and to ensure that you stop at the most interesting places. If you choose to rent, we recommend renting a 4-wheel drive vehicle.

How to get to Mountain Equestrian Trails
Take the Western Highway from Belize City and drive approximately 62 miles. Watch for the ‘Caesar's Place’ sign; the next village will be Georgeville. Turn left on Mountain Pine Ridge Road (Our sign is on the left side of Western Highway) and drive 8 miles (a gravel road and the going is usually very slow). Allow 30+ minutes to get to Mountain Equestrian Trails from Georgeville watching for our ‘Blue Morpho butterfly’ sign on the left at mile 8, then 3/4 of a mile in turn left. Please park where directed by the signs.
