FULL DAY HORSEBACK RIDE BARTON CREEK
One of our most popular horseback rides is the one to the Barton Creek River Valley to the mouth of the river cave. The ride features more cultural experiences because you ride through two entirely different villages, the Salvadoran village called El Progresso and the Mennonite community. Expect to see horse-drawn buggies and people wearing traditional Amish-type clothing. Please respect them and refrain from taking their photos. You will tie your horses then be given life-jackets before entering the canoes (3 per canoe). Your guide will point out Mayan artifacts and significant features. Bring your own headlight, a spotlight will be provided with the licensed tour guide. There are facilities for changing into a swimsuit if you wish to take a refreshing dip before lunch and mounting for the return climb up and out of the valley. You will pass through jungle and farm-land, therefore giving you the opportunity to see a wide variety of bird species, including the brilliant Vermillion Flycatcher that can only be seen there and not at MET.
